Code of Conduct

This conference is committed to providing a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment for all participants, regardless of gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, appearance, ethnicity, race, national origin, age, religion, or any other legally protected category. All participants—including speakers, exhibitors, and staff—are expected to behave with integrity and respect. Our community focuses on the Iranian Highlands and the human–environment interplay; we especially welcome the participation of early-career researchers and expect all interactions to reflect a collaborative, supportive scholarly ethos.

Access and Credentials

Personalized credentials provided to participants for access to the online conference are personal and non-transferable. Misuse of credentials, including unauthorized sharing, may result in exclusion from the event.

Moderation and Participation

Live sessions will be moderated. Speakers and participants are expected to respect the moderator’s role in selecting questions and comments, managing session times, and maintaining the flow of discussions. Interrupting, dominating, or disrupting sessions is not acceptable.

Privacy and Recording

Participants must respect the privacy of others and refrain from unauthorized or unwelcome recording, screenshots, or photography. This includes any direct or indirect interactions or electronic messaging with other delegates. Photos or videos may only be taken with the express prior written consent of both the presenter and the organizer. Any official recording or streaming for archival or dissemination purposes will be coordinated solely by the Organizing Committee.

Respectful Communication

All communication—verbal, written, or electronic—must be respectful and polite. Inappropriate, offensive, discriminatory, or harassing messages or behavior will not be tolerated, including sexual or discriminatory language, offensive imagery, intimidation, stalking, or any form of unwanted contact.

We encourage constructive, scholarly dialogue free of unnecessary hierarchy. Please engage with ideas rather than individuals, invite diverse perspectives, and allow space for early-career colleagues and under-represented voices to contribute. Critique should be evidence-based, courteous, and time-conscious.

Confidentiality of Scientific Content

Abstracts, presentations, slides, and discussions are shared within the context of this conference. Participants may not reproduce, redistribute, or use the intellectual content of others without explicit permission from the presenter and the organizer. All materials are provided solely for the scientific and educational use of registered participants.

Digital Etiquette

Accessibility and Inclusion

The Organizing Committee strives to ensure accessibility for all participants. Attendees are encouraged to help maintain this inclusive environment and accommodate the needs of participants with disabilities or special requirements.

Please use clear, plain language, and prepare slides with adequate contrast and readable font sizes. Provide captions or transcripts where possible, describe visuals briefly, and share materials in accessible formats upon request.

Reporting and Consequences

Violations may be reported to the Organizing Committee via designated channels. The Committee may take any necessary action, including warnings, removal from sessions, reporting to host institutions, or permanent exclusion from future conferences. Reports will be handled sensitively and, where feasible, confidentially. For concerns, contact: ecal.workshop@iranhighlands.com
